Ten boys and seven girls from Our Lady of Grace School and St. James Academy spoke on the topic, "Why Me, Why Not?" in our club's Oratorical Contest held on April 8 at St. James Academy.

J.C. Lazzaro from St. James won the boys contest and MaryJo Fabziak from Our Lady of Grace won the girls contest.  JC and MaryJo represented our club in the Zone 9 contest which we hosted on April 23.  They did well in the Zone contest, but did not place to go on to the District Contest held at Ocean City, MD on the weekend of May 2-4.

Essay Contest Results

Four students accepted the challenge of competing in our club's Essay Contest and wrote essays on the topic "Today's Choices Shape My Future."

Maryanna Price of Millers, MD, a student at the University of Maryland, won our club's contest and her essay was entered in the Maryland/South Delaware District contest.

Sarah Rice, who was sponsored by the Rockville Optimist Club, won the District contest and received a $650 scholarship and her essay went on to the Optimist International contest where she placed third and won a $2,250 scholarship.

What: Sponsor a golf ball for $10 and watch it drop from a bucket full of balls held high from a crane into the hole!
